Solar Do Castelo

History and passion at a boutique hotel in Lisbon old town.

Looking out over the capital, São Jorge Castle houses between its walls a typical set of houses. Amongst these houses is Solar Do Castelo, a unique boutique hotel located inside the medieval building. The place of legends and the souls of princes, the doors of the palace open out onto the noble patio where the blue of the peacocks prevails. A serene refuge set against the Lisbon frame of the Pombaline tilework.

A monument in the capital, the small unit comprising a mansard and two storeys houses the remains of the memory of the place. The cistern was preserved and the museological set of objects found during the renovation reflect over eight centuries of History. The decorative project by the Graça Viterbo Studio stresses the contemporary character of the revitalization of the space whilst concurrently stressing the medieval origins. This alchemy results in a timeless profile.
