The historical hotel ELIZABETH is uniquely located directly below the medieval castle, in the centre of the City of Trenčín.
Hotel guests may admire the nearly 2000 year old Roman Inscription on the castle rock from the hotel`s summer terrace.
The four-star Hotel Elizabeth, originally known as “Erszébet Szálló”, was built right under Trenčín’s medieval Castle by order of Baron Armin Popper, who was inspired by Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi. The hotel welcomed its first guests on the first of January 1902 as they were returning from New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The hotel became an overnight success and established itself as a part of the cultural and social life of the city. Shortly before its 20th anniversary, it was renamed to Hotel Tatra and its ownership was transferred to a bank.
